The Riberaz are a dj/producer duo from Belgrade, Serbia. After several years in music production two brothers, Slavoljub Cvetkovic and Sinisa Cvetkovic , in 2011, they decided to jump into the EDM music world. While at that time for them this has been an unknown world, they knew that with hard work anything can be achieved. In such a short career, they released their music for many established international labels such as Pyro Records (Point Blank), Pool E Music (Antoine Clamaran & Laurent Pautrat), Big Alliance Records (Monolythe) and many others. The fact that they are on the right way is shown by charted tracks on online stores such as Trackitdown, Traxsource, DJTUNES, My Clubbing Store and support from many djs in their radio shows, like Marco V, Antoine Clamaran, Point Blank, Going Quantum, Miss Nine, Juicy M, Tocadisco, Jesse Voorn, Alex Sayz, Ming, Monolythe, Party Killers and many more. And for the end, messages to all their friends and fans is “We can’t stop,we won’t stop” and everything is possible.
SUM : Hello mates , thanks for taking the time to talk with us, How was 2013 for your career and what do you expect to accomplish in 2014?
Hi, thank you and it is our pleasure to talk with you. 2013 has been good year for us, we say good because it always can be better. We released tracks on so many good labels and we will be remembered for our first EP in Big Alliance Records. As far 2014 we want the “The Riberaz” to go the next level, we are already working on a new projects.
SUM: Tell us how “The Riberaz” came to be? How would you define your style and who/what are your musical influences?
How came to be “The Riberaz”…Hmm….good question. In our teenage days, we mainly listened to hip hop but we had always wanted to create music not only listening to it. And so we came up with our first alias Jose Ribera and Manolo Ribera, of course the journey from listener to producer is is filled with hard work but everything is possible with perseverance.
After several years producing hip hop and pop tracks, we started producing EDM tracks and at that time we thought that we needed a new artist name. After many hours thinking we decided that the name that will connect our past with our future would be “The Riberaz”, and that’s how we became “The Riberaz”. Maybe is not a great story but that is truth. As far as style goes we don’t like boundaries because we now listen to all kinds of music. Music is our inspiration regardless whether is it a pop, hip hop, Electronic Dance Music or others genres.
SUM: Your EP “R3D” is quite a marvel! What motivated you to produce it? How long did it take from start to finish? any funny memories? any interestingly new that you learned during the production process?
We first created R3S3T inspired by the style of people like Blasterjaxx, W&W, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and some other artists. Then we wanted to create the track which was totally the opposite of that sound and that is why we created R3D. Approximately we have worked on both tracks for about a month. During the creative process we always learn something new, because every track is different and story for yourself.
SUM: How many hours a day do you see yourself doing your magic in your studio?
Depends, we create music whenever we have time, but definitely we won’t pass a day that we haven’t opened a project even if it’s only 5 minutes.
SUM: What is the best or the craziest memory you have from a live event or a party where you Djed or just went as a fan?
We don’t have special a crazy memory, but crazy stuff happens when people are drunk around you, no matter where you are.
SUM: So far what you think has been the highlight of your career?
So far we think that’s our remix for Erick Decks who hit #2 spot on Trackitdown House/Electro chart and we hope there will be more tracks in the future that chart that way, but we don’t bother with that, we just want to make good music.
SUM: What are your top 5 tracks at the moment?
R3hab & NERVO & Ummet Ozcan – Revolution (Vocal Mix)
Showtek – We Like To Party (Original Mix)
Lush & Simon feat. Rico & Miella – Drag Me To The Ground (Original Mix)
Arno Cost & Greg Cerrone – Nightventure (Original Mix)
Audien feat. Ruby Prophet – Circles (Original Mix)
SUM: What is your take on this digital world we are living in? what is your take on music piracy? and what do you think about our initiative “free or pay”?
It’s great to see how the world has become small, everybody and everything are one click away. Technology is evolving rapidly but everything has its faults and advantages. Illegal downloading, it can’t be stop but your method “free or pay” it’s one way how it could be, and we love it.
SUM: The DjMag Top 100 2013 Results last year. Fair or Scam?
It’s marketing, we don’t believe that music have numbers, every artist, producer have their own story to tell. Every track created with passion is a good track, at least we think so. We think that Hardwell’s hard work paid off but we don’t think that he is a better producer than other producers in DjMag TOP100 or even those who haven’t entered.
SUM: What would be a piece of advice that has helped you in your career?
My good friend told us and we tell everybody, don’t hesitate to use High pass filter on everything (producer tip). Work hard, play hard.
SUM: What was the worst punishment you received at school?
We must say, we have been good in school (nerds), haha. Hard work pays off, believe that.
SUM: Have you ever had a workplace romance?
We are strictly professional, don’t mix business and pleasure.
SUM: What types of holidays do you prefer?
Every holiday is a good holiday to spend with people that you love.
SUM: What is one thing you could tell us about yourself that others would be shocked to know?
We are quiet nice guys but when we work in the studio we are very temperamental, and often we come to arguing, eventually we overcome our differences when we finish a track. We must tell you that this didn’t happen while we were working on R3D Ep.
SUM: If you could breed two animals together to defy the laws of nature what new animal would you create?
I do not know why, but we would like to combine the mouse and the elephant to see what would happen. Haha
SUM: Did you ever win any sports day events?
We love sports especially football (soccer) and we are good at that. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, that’s how it is.
SUM: Message for your fans?
Believe in yourself and believe in your dreams. Don’t give up after the first fall, only persistence brings success.
