Invertex is a 22 year old producer from London, UK. His early influences include Heavy Metal and Rock music but it has been his love for Dance Music that managed to get his attention and has been the driving force behind his pursue as a Producer/DJ. His music can be identified as a perfect mix of heavy metal and drum & bass that will have you headbanging, moshpiting and jumping around.
Don’t put this young man in a box though, his willingness and versatility has him exploring new sounds all the time and he is not committing to genres, to him they are simply a quick way to kill creativity, he lets his mood and natural flow enhance the creating process. We are definitely intrigued to know whats in store for this talented up-and-coming artist in the near future.
SUM: Hi Alex, thanks for giving us a moment to chat with you, how’s this year treating you so far?
Hey! No worries man, always happy to talk. This year has been great so far thanks, some really exciting developments with my music!
SUM: Very Soon you will have your fist release with Playing With Monsters, can you tell us a bit more about this and what people can expect?
Yes, my first EP will be called “Running With Wolves” and will feature 3 heavy DnB/drumstep tracks that’ll blow your mind! I’ve combined the energy and heaviness of metal with the filthy sounds of modern electronic music to create something that will make you want to throw down! I also like to infuse some Egyptian vibes in there too as I feel it gives my tracks an interesting extra flavour. I have written a lot of the songs on the electric guitar and recreated them in my DAW, which means my music is built around solid riffs and melodies.
SUM: What inspires you the most?
I am equally influenced by metal bands such as After the Burial and Veil of Maya and high energy electronic artists such as Dirtyphonics and Pegboard Nerds.
SUM: How many hours a day do you see yourself doing your magic in your studio?
I’m usually pretty busy in the week, but I’ll usually spend a good portion of my weekend sitting at my PC, playing around with my guitars and writing riffs. If something catches my ear I’ll try and recreate it in my DAW and if I get into it, I can easily spend the whole day building the song!
SUM: What DAW you use to produce music?
At the moment I’m running Cubase 6, but I’m hoping to upgrade my laptop soon and with it my DAW to Cubase 7.5!
SUM: What is the VST Instrument you wished your computer could run without crashing?
NI Massive! It’s a staple of the electronic music community, but it has a habit of freezing on me which means I’ll have to reopen the project and this can get pretty frustrating.
SUM: If you had the opportunity to collaborate with one artist, who would it be and why?
I’d have to say Dirtyphonics as they have produced a few of my favourite tracks ever. They combine everything I love in music: high energy tracks, great riffs and the occasional metal guitar part! So if you’re reading this guys, hit me up! ;)
SUM: What are your favorite three tracks at the moment?
Dirtyphonics – Walk In The Fire. I love the metal guitar in this; it’s the perfect crossover metal/DnB track for me!
Far Too Loud – Doomsday Machine. Far Too Loud is pure class. I can’t think of a bad song by him, but this is one of his best in my opinion. The drop is so crunchy and it is the perfect slice of dirty electro that makes you want to bounce!
Robokop & Spag Heddy – Spanish Inquisition. This track is probably one of the most fun songs you’ll ever listen to, what more can I say?
SUM: What is your biggest passion apart from music, tell us a bit more about you as a person.
Well I’m currently studying Chemistry at college here in the UK, so I’m afraid I’m going to have to be a bit nerdy and say science! I also like going to the gym; picking up heavy things and putting them down again just has some sort of primeval appeal to me!
SUM: Which cartoon did you like the most when you were a kid and why?
It’s got to be The Simpsons, because that’s what I grew up on being a 90’s kid. I’d watch it every day at 6pm without fail!
SUM: If you lived in a superhero universe, would you be a super hero or a super villain? Why?
Superhero every day! I don’t think I have the required evil streak in me to be a Supervillain anyway… I’d probably hatch a dastardly evil plan and then back out at the last minute because I felt bad about it!
